[POSTPONED] Threesome: Cherdonna Shinatra, Jarbeaux, and Martha Graham Cracker

  • Repair Revolution 2437 6th Avenue South Seattle, WA, 98134 (map)

Dear Subscribers,

We regret to announce the postponement of the upcoming show Threesome, which was scheduled to open at Repair Revolution in SoDo beginning Thursday, March 2.

Due to an emergent illness among the cast, On the Boards and the production team behind the show believe the most prudent course of action is to cancel this season’s Threesome performances entirely. We hope for a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing Cherdonna Shinatra, Jarbeaux, and Martha Graham Cracker in next season’s calendar.

A note from the Artists:

Cherdonna, Martha Graham Cracker, and Jarbeaux are so excited to have a Threesome for you!

As with all nontraditional relationships, there is a lot of negotiation that goes on… google calendars, arguments over family visits, and "who used my toothbrush" moments. These are small matters but sometimes major stuff happens that throws a wrench in everything, and now is one of those times. Due to some serious health and family matters that need our care and attention this year, we need to postpone the premiere of Threesome till next season in 2024. Know that anticipation will make our eventual evenings together all the sweeter.

It's the opposite of Netflix…you have to wait two years for just one episode. But we promise it will be worth it.

Postponed performances are inevitably unfortunate, especially when they feature such unique talent as Cherdonna Shinatra, Jarbeaux, and Martha Graham Cracker. We thank you in advance for your grace and patient understanding as we navigate this unforeseen circumstance. As always we remain grateful for your ongoing support, attendance, and dedication to the organization.

Sincerely,

On the Boards

Threesome: Cherdonna Shinatra, Jarbeaux, and Martha Graham Cracker

Jody Kuehner, John Jarboe, Dito van Reigersberg

Be seduced and challenged all at once through a combination of pleasure, song, and spectacle.

Don't bring one date to this show, bring two! Cherdonna Shinatra is back at On the Boards and this time she is bringing friends! In collaboration with Philadelphia's The Bearded Ladies and Dito van Reigersberg, this trio is taking our binary world to task. Performed at Repair Revoluition, a queer mechanic shop in Sodo, these oddballs will use song, movement, and the irreverent to tackle the social geometry of femme triangles in a square masc world. But in a society made to make them unwanted, our trio will decide if it is worth continuing to carve a space out for themselves in a world that was not designed for them.

DATES

  • Thursday, March 2, 8pm

  • Saturday, March 4, 8pm

  • Sunday, March 5, 8pm

Duration: 75 mins

Presented in partnership with The Bearded Ladies Cabaret, at Repair Revolution

More About This Piece

A bi-coastal performance project: A multi-disciplinary performance by lead artist Jody Kuehner (WA) in collaboration with John Jarboe of The Bearded Ladies Cabaret and Dito van Reigersberg (PA). Our mission, to queer the tyranny of the terrible twos: couples, question/response, and the binary code.  Threesome will use pleasure, punk rock, and spectacle to seduce and challenge audiences, with the occasional devastating torch song, whispered side conversation, indulgent cry-gasm, or tiny monkey wrench to keep everyone on their toes. This is a collision between three bodies at the intersection of Homo and FOMO.

In Seattle, performances will take place at Repair Revolution, which puts the GAY in garage. By day, they are an auto repair shop that is disrupting business as usual with radical Transparency. By night, they open the doors to the community as an event space to support local artists.

About the Artists

Cherdonna Shinatra, The Bearded Ladies, and Martha Graham Cracker come together for a new, collective, queer performance network that brings gender-slippery work to new audiences across social, political, and economic barriers. This collaborative trio are among the most visible queer and feminist artists of their respective cities. All collaborators have a well-documented history of making work which asks hard questions about gender and queer identity through the body in performance. In this project, we are expressly privileging queer voices and values in producing and presenting the work, in addition to making the art.
