Mouthwater Festival

Soul Seeker conveys the epic and tumultuous odyssey of our soul as it navigates the labyrinthine path of life.

Vanessa Hernández Cruz weaves introspection and revelation in this experimental contemporary dance solo, inviting audiences to embark on a transcendent voyage of self-discovery. We don’t get to choose our vessel on this Earth, but the Universe grants us the profound gift of life. In this cosmic journey, we find ourselves intricately interlaced, connected by invisible threads that bind us to one another and to the vast universe that surrounds us. Visual artistry takes center stage along with movement and sound to manifest the chaos and beauty of our soul in vibrant hues and striking imagery.

Soul Seeker recently premiered at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions performing art series “ABUNDANCE” and is part of the Mouthwater Disabled Arts Festival (September 23 – October 13, 2024) presented through Velocity Dance Center’s Made in Seattle program.

Mouthwater Festival is a 3-week, city-wide fringe festival of Disability arts, with 26 events including meals, movement workshops, parties, artist socials, and performances! On the Boards is the site for a performance by Vanessa Hernández Cruz, who has curated the festival alongside India Harville, Mx. Pucks A’Plenty, and Saira Barbaric.
