Venue: On the Boards Parking Lot
This Drive-In, the KEXP | Sonic Travelogue imagines a chosen global community created by a shared love for music. Featuring sessions recorded both in the KEXP studios and at remote locations around the world, these live performances tell stories of traditions and ingenuity, wilderness and cities, self-expression and interconnection, through the diverse sounds and songs of artists from all over the planet.
The Drive-In will feature work by dozens of artists and groups including Songhoy Blues, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Huun-Huur-Tu, and DakhaBrakha.
The same program will play on both Friday and Saturday nights.
The KEXP Audio/Video team has been recording live in-studio sessions for nearly 20 years. A small, tightly knit group of can-do, innovative music lovers has built a huge library of sessions and a YouTube channel with nearly 2.5 million subscribers and over a billion views.
